長崎女子商業高等学校家庭科教員、長崎総合科学大学附属高等学校非常勤講師、長崎女子短期大学講師・助教授・教授、県立長崎シーボルト大学非常勤講師等を経て、現在、長崎県美容専門学校の非常勤講師として活躍。調理学、家庭科教育法、栄養指導論、情報処理演習、女性学、食育学、長崎の食文化などが専門。
著書に「家庭生活領域の研究と実践－家庭科教師の悩みと課題（共著）」「調理のための食品学辞典（共著）」「NEW 基礎調理学（共著）」「長崎料理歳時記（共著）」「百花繚乱ふるさとの味 長崎料理」「かあさんのレシピ 長崎スローフード食卓」などがある。
主な社会活動として長崎市教育委員会委員・委員長、長崎伝習所「長崎女性塾2001」塾長、ながさき女性・団体ネットワーク会長、ながさきの「食」推進委員会食育部会会長、長崎県男女共同参画審議会会長、長崎市地産地消アドバイザーなどを務める。2010年6月には男女共同参画社会づくり功労者として内閣総理大臣表彰を受賞。
